The season finished this weekend down at the Roc D'Azur. As each year its more and more impressive and its a refreshing change to be amounst so many passionate amature riders who love there mtbs. Everyone was pretty laxed and we enjoyed several cafe's on the beach... here with our old team mate Peter-Riis and Jacob

I was keen to go out with a good result, so I had done what I could to prepare the race. The past two weeks I've down road races to keep the speed and the freeride days between kept the fitness high without burning the brain. I felt excellent from the start and made the move when Christophe attacked so was away with the best three. But I was over my limit and I paid the price.. blowing up badly and finally settling for a 'promenade' to finish of the year. It was a perfect sunny day, so in the end I also enjoyed my final race.. but I was a little dissapointed none the less.
Now I'm back home and I have a huge weight off my shoulders... Its time to evaluate everything and formulate a new plan for next year. After all the success this year I am super duper motivated. I know there are many things to improve and with my 'home' situation in good shape, I am very confident for next year.. which is of course an Olympic year again!
But first... time to relax, enjoy some pleasures of life.. and maybe put on a few kgs to help with the cold winter ahead :)
